Patricia Murrin D.B.A., GDP Consulting Inc.Dr. Patricia Murrin is adept at facilitating and leading teams towards process and enterprise excellence.  Patricia has over thirty years of experience in industry and education, with leadership positions in customer service and distribution, sales and operations planning, information management, marketing, inventory management, demand management, and supplier quality assurance.

With this rich background and a skillful combination of team facilitation and Lean-Six Sigma methodologies, Patricia works with organizations in the public and private sector to identify problems, analyze data, determine root causes, evaluate solutions, and implement customer focused and sustainable process improvements.

A key element in her collaborative approach with clients is customer-centered and process-focused education and training, supported by consulting support and team coaching.

Knowledge and Expertise

Patricia provides professional development and process improvement workshops, consulting support, team facilitation, and coaching to organizations of any size and composition.  Areas of expertise include Hoshin planning, Lean/Six Sigma methodologies, value stream mapping, process design, process reference models, performance metrics, benchmarking, supply chain management, customer service, and inventory management.

Patricia has led cross-functional teams in varied industries towards organizational and process redesign, identification of best practices, alignment of performance metrics, and the application and selection of information technology to support business processes.

Teaching, Training, & Workshops:

  • Delivered courses to candidates for Master of Science degrees and Six Sigma Black Belts from the National Graduate School of Quality Management.  Courses delivered include Performance Based Management, Quality Systems Management, Supply Chain Management, Value Stream Analysis and Design, and Project Management.
  • Developed and delivered courses and workshops in Process Improvement, Supply Chain Management, and the Supply Chain Operations Reference Model for employees at the U.S. Air Force Maintenance Facility, Oklahoma City.  Also coached Six Sigma Green Belt projects.
  • Developed and provided workshops to various audiences, including: Process Design/Improvement, Process Mapping, Quality Tools, DMAIC – a Road to Six Sigma Quality, The SCOR® Model, Benchmarking, Supply Chain Management, Demand Forecasting, Change Management, Higher Education Grading Rubrics, The Role of Teaching Assistants in Higher Education.

Selected Project Experience:

  • Performed analysis of processes and procedures and developed recommendations for transportation management at a Canadian petrochemical site.
  • Performed analysis of the pharmaceutical value chains at a Canadian Health Authority.  Identified and presented opportunities for service and cost optimization.
  • Analyzed processes, conducted spend analysis, and targeted improvement actions and plans for major process improvement in procurement for a US based chemical company.
  • Developed monthly sales forecasting process and facilitated monthly sales and operations planning meetings for a large consumer products company.
  • Redesigned supply chain organization, including detailed job descriptions for a global medical devices company.
  • Designed processes in support of major software implementation for a national financial services company.
  • Assessed readiness of employees for major changes in roles, responsibility, and enabling tools at a global industrial products company.  Coached leadership in the design of a company-wide change management program.
  • Performed analysis of a risk management strategy involving a planned alliance of two pharmaceutical companies.
  • Identified theoretical and demonstrated capacity and bottlenecks and provided a scenario for market growth/new product introduction for a pharmaceutical company.
