Patricia Murrin - Senior Associate and Process Improvement Coach

Patricia Murrin is adept at leading business teams towards process and enterprise excellence. With a combination of organization training, consulting support and team coaching, she has led numerous teams towards problem identification, root cause analysis, and customer focused process improvement.  A key element in this strategy is customer centered and process focused education and training supported by a targeted change management program.

Ms. Murrin has over thirty years of experience in industry and education, with leadership positions in customer service and distribution, sales and operations planning, demand management, and quality assurance.  She brings particular expertise in supply chain management including supply chain value stream analysis, process alignment, and performance metrics. She is versed in, contributed to the development of,  and has trained many hundreds of individuals in the Supply Chain Operations Reference (SCOR) Model, a cross industry standard for supply chain development published by the internationally known Supply Chain Council. For five years she was on the staff of the Lean Institute of the University of Oklahoma and participated in the delivery of Lean, Six Sigma and Supply Chain Management courses to employees at the Air Force Maintenance Facility in Oklahoma.

Ms. Murrin has initiated and led cross-functional teams towards process design and improvement, including the application and selection of information technology to support business processes.  She has created and delivered training in process improvement and the use of Lean and Six Sigma tools including value stream and process mapping, analysis and redesign. Ms. Murrin has facilitated numerous organizational teams in process redesign, identification of best practices, and the alignment of performance metrics.

Recent Teaching and Training Experience:

  • Delivered courses to corporate candidates for Master of Science and Six Sigma Black Belt from the National Graduate School of Quality Management.   Courses delivered include: Performance Based Management, Quality Systems Management, Supply Chain Management, Value Stream Analysis and Design, and Project Management.

  • Developed and delivered courses and workshops in Process Improvement. Supply Chain Management, and the Supply Chain Operations Reference Model for employees at the U.S. Air Force Maintenance Facility, Oklahoma City, OK.

  • Provided project coaching support for Green Belt Certification candidates.

 

Selected Project Experience:

  • Performed analysis of the pharmaceutical value chains at a Canadian Health Authority. Identified and presented opportunities for service and cost optimization.

  • Recommended best practices for organizational redesign, including detailed job descriptions, for a global medical devices company.

  • Performed analysis of processes and procedures and developed recommendations for transportation management at a Canadian petrochemical site.

  • Analyzed processes, conducted spend analysis, and targeted improvement actions and plans for major process improvement in procurement for a US based chemical company.

  • Designed processes in support of major software implementation for a national financial services company.

  • Assessed readiness of employees for major changes in roles, responsibility and enabling tools at a global industrial products company.  Provided expert support in the design of a company-wide change management program.

  • Performed analysis in support of a risk management strategy involving a planned alliance of two pharmaceutical companies. 

  • Identified theoretical and demonstrated capacity and bottlenecks and provided a scenario for market growth/new product introduction for a pharmaceutical company.
