Policies are viewed as responses to organizational, local, provincial, federal, and international change.
These policies must be able to be implemented and evaluated.
The way boards think about policy can be linked to their own ideology as well as the ideology of owners and governments.
Board members may have very specific views about what decisions need to be made, how these decisions need to be made and how decisions should be implemented.
The key at the governance level is to determine what is wanted and to leave the ‘how’ to the CEO. This article addresses seven issues boards have to consider.
